The Will of Thomas Bean

I Thomas Bean of the Island of Hayling in that of Southampton Blacksmith do make and declare this my last Will and Testament in Manor following. First I bequeath my soul to God and my body to the Earth to be decently buried at the discretion of my Executor hereafter named And whereas I have according to the custom of the Manor of Hayling surrendered my Copyhold Estate or Estates hold of that Manor to the of my last Will and Testament. Now in pursueance of that said surrender I do hereby give Devise and Bequeath unto my son Thomas and his heirs all and every of my Copyhold Estate or Estates hold of that Manor, subject nevertheless and I do hereby subject the same to the payment of forty pounds in Manor as is hereafter mentioned My further Will is that all and every fine or fines that shall become due and payable to the Lord on my son Thomas being admitted to my Copyhold Estate or Estates abovementioned shall be paid and deducted out of personal Estate And whereas my daughter Elizabeth hath been already paid her portion or share of any Estate and effects After payment of my debts and Legacy abovementioned and funeral expenses All the remainder of my Estate of what nature or whatever kind it be together with the forty pounds abovementioned I give to be equally divided betwixt such other of my children that shall be living at the time of my death share & share alike And hereby revoking all former Will or Wills by me made I do hereby make and declare this to be my last Will and Testament and my said son Thomas to be my full and sole Executor In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this eighth day of October in the year of our Lord one Thousand seven hundred and sixty one.
