30 January 1839	Leonard I'Anson was a passenger aboard The Barque City of Adelaide which sailed from Port of London, England, on Wednesday, 30 January 1839 and made port in South Australia on 20 July 1839 under Captain Donaldson. While in the English Channel the barque was dismasted and had to put back to port for repairs. The voyage was a rough one; three times the passengers were battened down. Leonard I'Anson was made a constable in charge of the immigrants during the voyage. The barque was carrying general cargo, some passengers and 75 immigrants.³
