Baptism*Charles Loiterton was baptized on Sunday, 13 March 1808 at All Saints Church, Holbeach, Lincolnshire, England.1 
He was the son of Thomas Loiterton and Sarah Rubbins. 
Marriage*Charles was married to Susannah Buffham, daughter of James Buffham and Mary Ann Winkley, on Tuesday, 5 June 1838 at St Nicholas Church, Lutton, Lincolnshire, England.1 
(Passenger) VoyageCharles Loiterton was a passenger aboard The Ship Harriet which sailed from Southampton, Hampshire, England, on Wednesday, 16 February 1853 and arrived in Sydney Harbour on 30 May 1853 where they had to remain in quarantine until 11 June 1853 as one of the children had developed measles a few days before their arrival in Australia. The Harriet finally anchored at the entrance to Farm Cove on Monday 13 June 1853. The passengers officially disembarked on Thursday 16 June 1853. 
Immigration*Charles Loiterton and Susannah Buffham disembarked on 16 June 1853 at Farm Cove, NSW, Australia; where they were met by the Macarther agents who arranged temporary accommodation in the woolsheds near Sydney Cove for a few days while basic requirements were assembled, formalities completed, leases signed and notarised and transport organised. The group left Sydney Town on 19 June 1853 for the four day walk to Camden. Bullock-drawn drays transported the Macarther agents, children and goods but most of the group had to walk for four wet and miserable days in the middle of winter.

The day of their arrival at Cobbitty turned out to be brilliant sunshine and they moved in with pre-arranged established families until slab houses could be built on their selections. Over the next couple of months, both neighbours and workers from the Macarther estate helped in building and settling in of the new families.2 
Article*Charles is shown in the records of the Macarthur Estate for 1862 as a tenant holding portions 53-54 situated at Cobbitty Paddock. These portions covered an area of 141 acres, 40 of which were cleared. Charles was to be a tenant for 13 years at £30 per year. 
Death*Charles Loiterton died on Wednesday, 2 August 1882 at West Jindalee, NSW, Australia, at age 74.1
